Why We Love It
This is the recipe you make when you want people to think you tried… without actually trying.
It’s:
- Flaky on top and bottom
- Creamy, slightly tangy in the center
- Just sweet enough for brunch or dessert
And somehow? It feels like a bakery situation.
(It’s not. We’re using crescent dough and moving on.)
Ingredients
- 2 (8 oz) packages cream cheese, softened
- 2 packages crescent roll dough
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- ¾ cup sugar
- 1 egg, separated
Instructions
1. Preheat + base layer
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Press one package of crescent dough into the bottom of a 9×13 baking dish, sealing the seams and letting it come slightly up the sides.
2. Make the filling
In a bowl, mix together:
- Cream cheese
- Lemon juice
- Vanilla
- Sugar
- Egg yolk
Beat until smooth, then spread evenly over the base layer.
3. Add the top layer
Unroll the second package of crescent dough and place it over the filling.
Pinch seams together to seal as best you can.
(It does not need to be perfect. That would defeat the purpose.)
4. Bake
Beat the egg white and brush it over the top.
Bake for 25–35 minutes, until golden brown and slightly puffed.
5. Cool + slice
Let cool slightly before cutting into squares.
Serve warm or at room temperature.
