We want to inspire our readers to host more gatherings by sharing the ideas and event trade-secrets we’ve learned over the years. Most importantly, we want to take the stress out of planning time with family and friends. We believe planning a party should be as fun as attending it!
So, the story of this little website goes something like this: pro designer and stationery diva (that’s me) develops a girl crush on a super star wedding photographer (that’s Liz) after taking an office in the same building. For 5 years we collaborate on some pretty spectacular events and styled shoots then realize that even when we are off the clock, we are still dreaming up kick-ass parties and hosting fabulous get-togethers.
After a few hiccups (mostly cava-induced), we officially decide to share our passion and party know-how with the world.
Welcome to Pretty Together.
We are thrilled that you are here and hope that we can inspire you to throw open your doors and host your own stylish shindigs. We’ll show you how easy and fun it can be to pull off a picture-perfect party with plenty of recipes, tutorials and design ideas. We’ll also include links so that you can easily shop some of our favorite things and plan your next event with a few taps and clicks.
But enough about us, let’s do this already!
It’s time to make something pretty together.

I’m what you might call a Renaissance woman, at least when it comes to the creative world. I’ve made a career out of writing, designing, styling and making – oh and I became my own boss at 28 when I decided I could just do it better on my own. I’ve been hosting elaborate parties since my first easy-bake oven and I love a good theme. Roaring twenties murder mystery anyone? My friends enthusiastically participate in all my flights of fancy, and my two dogs, Barrett and Milo, have become the best co-hosts and taste-testers a girl could wish for. I often think Pretty Together was kind-of inevitable and I couldn’t be more excited for what comes next. Cheers to doing what you love!
I’m a Campari and Aperol addict. Make me a Boulevardier for winter or a Negroni for summer and I’m a happy camper. I also have a serious weakness for bubbles. On my 30th birthday, I drank so much Veuve Clicquot that I ended up with a scar that’s still visible on my knee. Good times.
My mom’s devil’s food cake with buttercream icing. Although the icing is made from scratch, the cake is out of a box. It’s the taste you’ve been missing since your 1982 grade school bake sale.

Anthropologie. Having the app gets me into all kinds of trouble. I just can’t resist mixed patterns, animal prints, and tassels.

I left my heart in Barcelona. I often find myself browsing expat realty sites and imagining my evenings on a balcony in El Born.
Love in a Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. I love epic stories mixed with a little bit of magic and long-winded prose dripping with imagery.
Spaghetti with Classic Bolognese. I’m not Italian, but I had the privilege of growing up in a small town where everyone’s grandma spent Sundays making big Italian family dinners.

Liz is a former event manager turned award-winning wedding photographer who never really got event planning out of her system. When you mix that with her love of cooking, cocktails with friends, and doggie cuddle time, you have a damn fine recipe for fun and a good idea of what this crazy lady brings to the table. Did I mention she talks to flowers? More than once I’ve heard her say “Well aren’t you pretty!” and sadly realize she isn’t talking about me. She was self-diagnosed with Color ADD decades ago and her husband Steve has been known to take a Xanax every time she paints the dining room a new color. Pretty Together finally gives her an outlet to share some of her crazy ideas with the world, so enjoy!
Bring me all of the drinks! Something that is sweet, spicy and sour all in one. Anything with Ancho Verde. Wheat beers with a hint of lemon. A glass of Italian Chianti or a bright Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough New Zealand. A Rose from Provence. Anything sparkling. Nothing cinnamon thanks to a Goldschlager college fail.
Tiramisu. It is impossible to pass up that creamy goodness! Even bad grocery store Tiramisu is good.

CB2.com. Sadly I live in St. Louis, Missouri and the retail gods have not yet blessed us with one of these, so I must suffer the delayed gratification (torture) of shipping times.
